Business Outlook
Pros
Great company for learning how to think differently about building a business, operationalising, and scaling. Amazon ways of working are not unique, but they are consistent across regions and departments which makes the culture, when applied right, very benefitial. Unfortunately the innovation culture changed towards the end of my tenure so it was less about building, and more about measuring revenue impact. Big bets became less of a focus and opportunity.
Cons
The business is actually very slow at building, and all product development is centralised, meaning AU and APAC was too far away. Speed matters in business, and for Advertising that's not enough to truly compete beyond the O&O walls.
