Pros

Amazon offers really great benefits such as free resources at education, great teams to work with, innovative technology, a decent time off structure (aside from PTO values, I'll get into that in the cons), and helping you grow in your career.

Cons

Amazon time off is broken down into 3 aspects. UTP (Unpaid time off), PTO (paid time off), and vacation time. Amazon PTO is only 48 hours a year. This is simply not enough. You get plenty of UPT, but it seems a bit heavy handed to only offer 48 hours out of a working year. 48 hours is a joke out of a 40 hour work week (roughly 2000 working hours). 96 hours of PTO should be the norm. The raises are either non existent for L4 and above or very low. As an L3 we are rated on our performance every year. Even if we exceed the bar of our performance, the raise is usually anywhere from 2 to if you're lucky 3 percent. The amount of work and responsibilities in IT does not equate the raises given or the pay in general. The pay isn't terrible, but it is by no means competitive.

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
