Great experience but job sucks - Area Manager II Amazon Employee Review

Pros

Entry level management roles for people who did not have extensive management experience, career switching, or simply for people who are trying to figure it out

Cons

Your L6/Station Manager is your gatekeeper to promotion. Get a bad one, and you're stuck. Rate them bad, they may have it against you. Prepare for soul-crushing hours on night shifts – Back Half RTS and UTR Sort Shifts will steal your weekends. The pay? Laughably low for the demands. Three years in the 50-60K range with an MBA and management experience. Huge regret. If you're ready to grind like this, go to accounting or consulting and actually get paid what you're worth.

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
