Amazon for better or worse has the attention span of a bee. If yours is longer, it's probably not a good place for you. There's lots of pressure to put out fires, in the process, all long term-plans are redrafted because they are practically never accomplished. Staff shuffle from thing to thing as a result. Two-year kicker grants are rarely given even when you've had good reviews. If you can make the bar here, you can at better companies frankly speaking. The politic are unbelievable. On con-calls with Seattle, the utterly fake praise exchanged can get so thick that it wasn't uncommon to hit the mute button just to hide the laughter at the transparent phoni-ness off it.
