Is this your company?

It's a career multiplier if you play it right - Cloud Support Engineer II Amazon Web Services Employee Review

Pros

You'll learn a lot, and fast. You'll get to work with and learn from very smart and motivated people. Being so customer-centric, you'll gain experience on many diverse real-life scenarios and use-cases. Your CV/LinkedIn profile will automatically become more appealing to recruiters. Can negotiate better roles/salaries post leaving Amazon.

Cons

A very cult-ish mindset across the whole company (see leadership princps, etc). Promotion processes are beaurocratic and often long/painful/unrealistic (esp at higher seniorities). Too much metrics-focused, easy to get burnednout and quit. Onboarding is often messy. Low salary + low yearly compensation despite being industry leader.

Pros

Ambitious projects if you're in the right team. Typically great team-mates. Don't believe the memes, the ppl are not back stabbing jerks but are overall genuinely nice. Not constrained by budgets when building cool things. Tools while sometimes clunky are powerful.

Cons

Schizophrenic lack of focus, entire teams get split, merged and upended multiple times a quarter. Some product managers are disconnected from reality. It didn't use to be the case, the PM-Ts were previously top notch. You're pushed to vibe code everything. Established products with loyal customers are getting neglected. Newer VP level leaders don't seem to know what they are doing. Veteran OG VP level leaders are either leaving in droves or seem stressed or checked out.
