As a tech, the only way to get promoted to the next job level (or even raise your annual salary at your current level) is to become your manger's bootlicker. Data Center management is the main issue! Externally hired managers lack the DC industry experience , while the "promoted-to-mgmt-techs" are lacking the leadership qualities.
