Pros

Senior management is commited to patient care. This shows through and all employees receive the tools necessary to complete the job well. Amedisys provides excellent training, whether you are clinical or not. Also, at each branch level, the staff is educated about their jobs and how they impact patient care on a day to day. Even our receptionists get lost of education, although they do not need to, but it is great because they can deal with the patients and referral sources so much better this way. The benefits package is excellent and life and work are taking into accout.

Cons

The competition in the State of Florida is ridiculous. This has nothing to do with Amedisys though. It is just the industry because it is a non CON State. Being that Florida is a non-CON state, everyone and anyone can open a home health agency at any given time. The other downside of working in this industry in Florida is the regulations that passed as of last year regarding not being able to give referrals sources any "gifts". Not that this was the way to get referrals, but it certainly helped to get in with those docs that only see you during lunch.

Pros

- I love being able to make my own schedule and see patients on my own time. - I love the care center hospice team that I work with. My DOO (Director of Operations) is very kind, a team player, and encourages the team to be their best. - Insurance benefits are also a plus (Blue Cross/Blue Sheild).

Cons

- I don't enjoy having to drive around and to far distances to see patients. Also, don't enjoy when patients and family members cancel visits because I won't get paid unless I make the visit. - Upper management doesn't care about the well-being of the local care center employees. Upper management puts to much stress on the DOO for stats and productivity quotas. - Upper management is cheap and doesn't contribute money to celebrate their employees like with a Christmas party (local care centers have to bring pot-luck style food and throw their own Christmas parties).
