Pros

Overall compensation in Chicago is at market rate for regular field staff visits (Rehab & Nursing) but signifiantly below market rate for "special visits" such as admits & high tech visits. Benefits are very good for homecare and great 401K if you choose to participate. Some managers were great and really listen to your concerns unfortunetly they have left.

Cons

Regional leadership does not know the Chicago Market and thinks that they are the only game in town like in a small town area where they worked before. Since there are over 400 agencies in the area (IL is not a CON state) they have also lost market share. Recent changes in office structure and local management have significantly demoralized the field staff and caused great loss in talent both in the office and in the field. Management now in place does not seem to have a clue as to field conditions and tend to blame the problems on field staff. Compansation structure in the last several months has also changed so staff are having to travel greater distances to see the number of patients that they need to qualify for benefits. The computer documetation system is the worse, and regardless of the suggestions that have been forwarded to corporate no changes to benefit the field staff have been put through. The computer is also very heavy (7lbs) to lug around especially if you are seeing patients great distances from where you have to park (like Chicago city staff) Geographically there are about 7 offices in the region so there is lots of overlapping territories to the point where each office is almost in competion with each other.

Pros

- I love being able to make my own schedule and see patients on my own time. - I love the care center hospice team that I work with. My DOO (Director of Operations) is very kind, a team player, and encourages the team to be their best. - Insurance benefits are also a plus (Blue Cross/Blue Sheild).

Cons

- I don't enjoy having to drive around and to far distances to see patients. Also, don't enjoy when patients and family members cancel visits because I won't get paid unless I make the visit. - Upper management doesn't care about the well-being of the local care center employees. Upper management puts to much stress on the DOO for stats and productivity quotas. - Upper management is cheap and doesn't contribute money to celebrate their employees like with a Christmas party (local care centers have to bring pot-luck style food and throw their own Christmas parties).
