Pros

Decent Healthcare, Looks Good on a Resume, Get a lot of experience doing a variety of tasks, Members have to attend at least one professional development training, 10 sick days and 10 personal days for the year, Members gain a lot of insight into how nonprofits operate

Cons

Your experience with any AmeriCorps program depends on your supervisor. If you have a bad supervisor, then your experience will not be good and there is not much you can do about it. Stipend is really and the organization encourages you to low take advantage of government benefits (stipend is below the poverty line for whatever city you are serving in), a lot of organizations get VISTA members and use them as a free labor source and then disregard their Vista Assignment Descriptions,
