Great coworkers, bad middle management - Utility Worker AmeriGas Employee Review

Pros

Coworkers are a good group. The job is straightforward. You'll get a forklift license working on the yard. They make sure you do the job well and handle propane safely.

Cons

Upper and middle management will make decisions that will be against what the workers on the ground, the drivers that know their routes, and the territory managers that know their territories, tell them. Then typically when that decision is aging poorly, they will reverse that decision and want to try something new. There is communication but too often it feels entirely one sided because decisions are made based on what "the computer" says, and not what an employee with years of knowledge will tell someone. And this has occured numerous times over my employment. Middle and upper management seem to shuffle. They may stick around for a year or two or so, and then there's new people that come in and replace them and the new people want to do things their way. The issue comes in when this keeps happening time and time again and it becomes a cycle where people who have little to no knowledge of the propane business, make decisions on it and tend to not listen to the current employees who do have the knowledge, some of which have been around for a decade or two even.

Pros

As of now the office is working hybrid. The work is steady and continuous. Our busy season is the winter, major overtime.

Cons

Monotonous doing the same thing. The work will turn to in office fulltime. Can become stressful in peek season.
