There's something wrong when a culture only cares about the advancement of a few staff. If you're not management you will never get promoted or credited for your hard work. They will treat you as a cog. Additionally, a warning for those who think this organization cares about REI. This organization is fine cycling through BIPOC staff as long as they are junior. Their equity rhetoric is a joke and the staff that cause the most negative impact at the top are never held accountable. Retention is bleak and I have never seen an organization so in denial about the culture among regular staff.
