Pros
I enjoyed my time with ACC for the first year. They give you all the tools and training to do your job. You also, work with some amazing co-workers. The corporate support was a pro as well, they were always willing to help with whatever was needed.
Cons
The biggest con is hands down the pay. I was a General Manager, I have multiple friends with other companies making more than me as an Assistant General Manger. The General Manager Bonus that was promised is very difficult to achieve. Acc also preaches about this amazing "culture" that they have, but to be honest I never saw it. Everything was always a competition between other General Managers. If you were friends with the regional manager and the regional vice president things were great. This company over values employees that started with the company as Community Assistants. To say this company is cliquish would be a huge understatement. When hired, ACC tries to sell candidates on growth opportunities but I never saw those either. They will give you lateral moves to a bigger property and act like it was this huge promotion. Not given the power to hire your own employees. The regional manager/regional vice president decides who the replacement is. Two of my assistant general managers were promoted (lateral moves, as stated above) and I did not even interview their replacements. Their replacements just walked into the office one day. This also happened with multiple maintenance positions.
