Pros

It's a large company with a lot of interesting technology. Looks good on your resume. Thats a good thing because you will always be thinking about leaving.

Cons

So many internal services are outsourced that it is very difficult to get anything done well or in a reasonable period of time. It is frowned upon to mention this. I've really never seen anything like it. Low salaries. Extensive offshoring means US salaries are driven down and quality of work for offshore is much lower than most onshore. But it's cheap which is all anyone seems to care about. It's never hit me but there are often reorgs with good people losing their jobs for no apparent reason. This makes everyone nervous whenever there is a change and alot of people always have one eye on the next job as a result.

Pros

They have fantastic pay for the position you're in, and they teach you interesting and engaging utility of modern technology mixed with legacy fundamentals. I've learned quite a bit while AmEx while getting paid more than fairly - I'd recommend a stretch here to whomever may be reading this!

Cons

The Company is huge, and at times it may take more than a little time to get recognized for your abilities and the growth you've had. There's a reason there is a "only way up is out" reputation exists for some enterprise companies...
