Pros

Good work/life balance, good benefits, easy to grow your career within the organisation - people are encouraged to move role every 18 months - 2 years.

Cons

Overly collaborative nature of the organisation can make it very difficult to deliver projects effectively. Too much emphasis on job titles, and not enough on experience and expertise. Like most large financial services companies, projects tend to be quite conservative and long winded. My onboarding experience wasn't well designed, spent much of my first few weeks bored, with little to do. When people move roles internally, there is very little handover, which can be very frustrating. Middle management is a bit of a mixed bag, a few good people, but many poor middle managers.

Pros

They have fantastic pay for the position you're in, and they teach you interesting and engaging utility of modern technology mixed with legacy fundamentals. I've learned quite a bit while AmEx while getting paid more than fairly - I'd recommend a stretch here to whomever may be reading this!

Cons

The Company is huge, and at times it may take more than a little time to get recognized for your abilities and the growth you've had. There's a reason there is a "only way up is out" reputation exists for some enterprise companies...
