Pros
Company Car and Good benefits
Cons
I had high hopes when I started as an Account Manager for AFA. Everything at first appeared to be wonderful with great co workers etc. However, the honeymoon quickly wore off and the ugly bride underneath came to light very quickly. The state manager micromanaged every aspect of your day. You never knew from one day to the next where you were going to be as she was so inept at management that she could not keep the calendar straight. Favoritism towards a few senior reps was very apparent including colluding against some of the newer reps who were outselling the more senior reps. The greatest issue I had with this company was the lack of ethics. I personally witnessed my State Manager forge teacher signatures and recommend products that were not appropriate. I believe a majority of their Account Managers failed their securities license at least once if not multiple times yet these are the same reps meeting with the teachers and helping them with their retirements. If you can't pass the Series 6 and 63 the first time then you have no business handling anyone's investments. It's not a difficult test. So, if you're considering employment at AFA, especially as an Account Manager, my advice is to turn around. It's not worth it. You will suffer. Your family will suffer. It's simply not worth it.
