Pros

pantry staff serving everything you ask at your desk.

Cons

The shared service office is another example of how some individuals can practice dictatorship even in this era of flat hierarchy in IT. If you do not work according to the so called leadership which by the way comprises of two individuals in this centre ,they will not leave a single chance to jeopardize your carrier. If you manage to escape them , then your onsite counter parts might add to your misery during work. These so called technical managers are there since ages and are ignorant about how things work nowadays. Some of them are unaware of requirement gathering and might want you to develop code on ad-hoc basis /unclear requirements .These people would want you to slog hours there despite your finished work. My only suggestion would be not to join this shared service center as these guys first lure by saying we work on the latest tech stack like Java, Mulesoft , spring , hibernate and what not but the reality is far more different. These managers are often busy pleasing their onsite counter parts by different means so that center keeps on getting funding for their operations and hardly care for the employees well being and aspirations. To add on there is no wfh/flexi timings /cabs be it female or male employee/ career growth. You will get single digit annual increments saying telecom sector is not doing good after all year work. Opting as a full time employee under such a leadership is a big NO .In case you plan to join as a contractor, try not getting selected in the client interview and intentionally get rejected to save yourself.

Pros

Overall, it’s not the worst place to work, but there are several shortcomings the company needs to address. The biggest positive is the people — about 95% of the team was great to work with and genuinely trying to do their best for the company and for themselves. The 401(k) match is strong, though it does require several years of employment before fully vesting. The overall benefits package is average — not exceptional, but generally decent.

Cons

Below‑market compensation and less‑than‑desirable annual raises and bonuses. Increases at the time of promotions were often limited due to a lack of employee leverage. Long‑term employees were not brought up to market rates, while new hires frequently came in earning more than those with tenure and proven performance. Subpar HR team — they are focused solely on protecting the company rather than supporting employees. Unfair practices regarding hybrid and remote schedules. Many employees are allowed to work remotely while the company preaches to the rest that remote work is not an option. Even individuals on the same team or within the same department are given different arrangements. Senior staff are often granted privileges that their direct reports are denied. They heavily preach cost‑cutting, yet allow certain teams to be wasteful and fund perks or community engagement events that fall short of their goals and misuse resources.
