On the non-union side, there is a strong culture of working after hours, while on vacation, while you are sick, etc. Anything less is seen as negligent. There’s a lot of talk about “caring” but little support for that during work hours. So be sure to have any family deaths, mental health struggles, long COVID symptoms, etc on your own time.
