Pros

Compensation is great compared to other facilities in the area, including acute care facilities. Shift differential and attendance bonuses offered. Holiday pay is double time. Hours are flexible and a variety of shifts are available. Staffing is generally adequate, with some exceptions. Most of the nursing staff are experienced and caring. Good environment and accommodations for the residents/patients.

Cons

Most of the downsides are facility specific. Due to frequent turnover in middle and upper management numerous staffing policies have been implemented and removed that have caused discourse and turnover within reliable and experienced staff members. Mandatory overtime is never a good idea, especially when many staff members have other jobs and responsibilities which have been accommodated in the past. Build a larger PRN pool and if the situation is truly dire bite the bullet and bring in an agency. It costs much more to recruit new staff than it does to simply retain the experienced staff you already have. Offer more training to upper and middle management to set them up for success. As for company-wide issues, the benefits package is sub par.

Pros

The staff here at Moran Manor is very friendly and supportive, creating a positive work environment. The department leadership team is excellent and always willing to step in and help on the floor when needed, which shows strong teamwork. The workplace is also very family-oriented, making it feel welcoming and understanding. Another very rewarding aspect is the opportunity to work closely with residents and their families—building those relationships has a meaningful impact on us as caregivers and makes the work we do feel truly important every day.

Cons

Frequent staff call-ins can sometimes create challenges with coverage and increase the workload for others.
