Pros
GREAT work/life balance. Sick family member, vet appointments, doctors, school plays, etc. they understand and almost never complain. They have a very accommodating attitude when it comes to flexibility, AS LONG AS YOUR WORK GETS DONE. (That should go without saying but I've seen some who don't seem to comprehend that.) Some of the negative comments I have seen have been "lack of training": while that CAN happen since we tend to be a very busy company across the board, all ANYONE needs to do is ask. No one will EVER deny help!! I have seen that from our admins to our owners. No one wants anyone to fail in this company. Another con, "Upper Management doesn't know anything about Fleet Maintenance": well, this may be true, but I would prefer successful executive to RUN the company I work for over a mechanic. If this is something you require from your executives then don't you owe them the same respect before criticizing? Do you know how to run a multi million dollar company? I sure don't. Another, "Work/life balance has been diminishing over the last year" (in 3 reviews): well, yes. We're at a critical time right now. The company is making some big, but good, changes that require a little more from everyone. If you are someone who has been here long enough to know that, then you were probably someone who took full advantage of the flexibility before. To me, a job is like a marriage. You spend more time there than you do with your family sometimes. Its a give and take. if you are only someone who takes, then its probably best you moved on in my opinion. The one common thing it seems most people feel is that Amerit is still learning. While that may be true, its mostly due to the fact that we're doing things that no other company has ever done before. Just remember that when you are frustrated. If you want an easy, boring 9-5, this isn't the place for you! This company will definitely test you.But it feels damn good when you pass. And they make sure you feel good for it! VERY AMBITIOUS! And so rewarding!
Cons
My main con is upper management seems to have a hard time with conflict or issues with specific employees. (I've seen it with technicians and corporate employees,) While we are a great company, everyone has hiccups and we have many employees, not everyone is going to get along. I believe they need to spend more time on solutions that work for every party involved, rather than give in to the employee who is the loudest. I've witnessed some intense bullying because of this. It seems their biggest concern is being sued, while I completely understand this, and can even argue it SHOULD be there biggest concern, they need to brush up on what actually should be tolerated and what they have grounds to terminate employees on. Timid is a word I would use. And, as FUN as this place can be, sometimes the leniency in "celebrating" is too much. We are definitely a work hard/play hard company. But it can actually be quite distracting. A SET, reoccurring time for everything we need to celebrate would be better. Its hard to try and explain to field employees that our department is very busy and trying to manage many things, when they can HEAR people having fun in the background on a consistent basis.
