Pros

You will be encouraged to invest more deeply into deciding what your career path will be, what you need as an employee, what you expect from upper management, what aspects of you as a person and professional need to be appreciated, and the type of team you want to be on.

Cons

This is a very traditional company. This company is a safe space for middle-aged, married white women. There were very few accommodations for real life event happenings. I worked in group administration and we were basically the team that took on things that other people did not want to do. I was told through the staffing agency that the training was comprehensive, and some of the best that they had ever seen but I would disagree. I think the training was very long and didn't cover much of what we were actually doing in our day-to-day. And when recommendations were made to update reference materials, they were met with indigence and ultimately not updated. I worked with a supervisor who was micromanaging to a degree I had never experienced before. I often felt like I could not do anything well enough even though I was the top performer. There was always an issue. It was difficult having her as a supervisor, because she had no clue what my job entailed, but was responsible for analyzing my performance. Because she did not know what was needed to do my job, she also was not a tool to access for support. It was difficult enough that they had us micromanaging ourselves for them by putting ourselves in different modes in Cisco Finesse, so they could calculate our "adherence", and editing the Nice/IEX scheduler when we had events that took us out of adherence. There was no flex time and "makeup hours" always had to be "approved" (there was no approval process) even though we were expected to work 40 hours to consider the business needs. I think it's common for people to do things differently within the same organization, or even the same department, but it was rare that I got a clear, consistent answer about how to handle things. This was a company that had a very high turnover. I would say that it was much like many other traditional "corporate America" companies in that uniformity is the goal. If you stand out, it is not a good thing and your personality will not be appreciated. So long as your personality is in line with what the "company culture," then you'll be fine. It was saddening that I could not show my personality, even if it was still professional. The applications used were archaic. When I started the role, I searched other job boards and job search sites to see what other roles and companies use the main system (flex software) we used on the daily and could not find any. I felt like this is a company that does not prepare the employees to have careers outside the company. The procedures and protocols were always changing--often without good reason or increase in efficiency or effectiveness--and we rarely knew what standard we were being held to when it came to following procedures and protocols. This was a job that had remote capacity (we literally connected to the remote Cisco Anyconnect network because the in-office network was so delayed), yet we were not allowed to work remotely. There were zero office perks to make coming into the office enjoyable or necessary.
