Pros

Pay started good. Some friendly managers. Some parts of the company scheduling policy are pro-worker. A lot of remote jobs. Better benefits than some companies. All customer reps are in the USA and customers appreciate being able to understand them. There are some fun employee involvement programs. The company does do things to give financial support to their communities. There have been people who have charted a career path within the company.

Cons

Pay does not keep up with inflation, there are occasional adjustments to bring pay to industry standards and many years it lags behind. PTO is difficult to schedule. The technology is behind the rest of the industry so customers are always complaining about the web access and employees have trouble accessing needed info. There is little transparency on the way certain claims are decided so it is difficult for representatives to explain denials. Job statistics seem to have become mostly a tool for denying wage increases. Every activity is tracked by automatic monitoring.

Pros

Almost all the CSR jobs are remote, even training is from home. They provide good equipment for remote workers. Starting pay is better than average. Have not had mandatory overtime in a long time. Almost all coworkers are great people who support each other and are wonderful to deal with. Big backers of employment diversity and tolerance (without making a big deal about it). Have programs for retirement savings, employee discounts and work/life balance.

Cons

The job is telling people why the company left them with thousand dollar bills they thought were going to be completely covered. You have some positive customer interactions, but there are multiple cases every day where you feel your company did something they should not be allowed to, and YOU are the person explaining why. To get meaningful raises you have to get promotions. If you are in a position you like, you will not get meaningful cost of living adjustments. It is possible to get no raise or or half the rate of inflation while being told you are doing a "good job." They are really playing catch-up with their technology. The interfaces employees use to look up information are ancient and you can get used to their shortcomings, but it helps to obscure information that may later turn into claim denials. They claim to be improving this but as of 2024, slowly. Asking for time off in the call center can be tricky.
