Pros

The compensation was competitive, and I had the opportunity to work with some truly smart, collaborative, and supportive teammates. The people I worked directly with made the day-to-day more enjoyable and were often the highlight of my experience.

Cons

There is absolutely no job security. During my time at Amherst, there were at least four or five rounds of layoffs — possibly more. The company brands itself as a startup but repeatedly fails to learn from its own mistakes. It’s a reactive environment, not a proactive one, with decisions driven almost entirely by short-term cost savings, regardless of the long-term consequences. Roles are outsourced quickly and without proper planning, often leading to avoidable disruptions. Some executives show little to no interest in actually leading or supporting their teams — it often felt like they were more concerned with adding another bullet point to their resume than making meaningful contributions. To make matters worse, the severance package offered during layoffs was extremely disappointing. When I raised concerns via email, they were completely dismissed without genuine consideration, reinforcing the impression that people are treated as numbers.

Pros

Decent pay Decent benefits Some very nice people

Cons

Major facetime culture - if you are an in office employee there is little flexibility. Very old fashioned company - you have to play the game Management sometimes makes choices that can make employees feel shafted or disrespected

Thank you for sharing your feedback — we're glad to hear the positives around pay, benefits, and the people here, and we take the concerns you've raised seriously. On in-person time: we emphasize this as we believe a lot of learning, mentorship, and collaboration happens more effectively face-to-face, particularly early in someone's tenure. We understand this doesn't work the same way for everyone, and feedback like yours helps us keep evaluating that balance. If you'd like to share more, please feel free to speak with your manager or anyone on the HC team. Thank you again for taking the time to write this.
