Pros

Everyone is very kind and has a very positive outlook. Colleagues were all very easy to talk to and engage with at the training event. The pay is great when there is work. The Amplify programs are wonderful and easy to sell to people because they are so user friendly. In addition, you will learn a lot of new skills while doing this role and get to travel to places you would not normally go to.

Cons

Communication can become stagnant once you are onboarded and ready to begin your trainings. Some managers take over a week to respond/not follow up about things. Many PLSs were not scheduled for trainings after going through the entire onboarding process or only given a handful of trainings even though we were told to have more. This is a wonderful job to do part-time if you have another source of income, but I would not recommend on relying on this for your summer paycheck.

Pros

Through training (in the beginning) and supportive peers.

Cons

Although I was so excited for the PLS opportunity, that excitement quickly faded when, mid-summer (after the formal kick-off event/training in Houston in mid May), I had zero opportunities scheduled, even though I made myself available all but 4 days the entire summer! I finally received a session three days before my return to my full-time teaching job at the end of August. I took the job, but have no idea why, since the one payday was not worth it, especially after putting my summer plans on hold for no reason. I also learned that new hires who were not seasonal PLS were given priority with scheduling, as other seasonal PLS in my region also reported little to no work.
