Cons

A couple years back, after a lower than expected sales year, the families stepped out of management of the company. The culture shifted from employee-centric to employee-hostile. A plan to keep the company afloat was devised and called "AmwayNEXT." This wound up being a series of cost cutting measures mostly targeted at employees. Things such as banning catered lunches, reducing permitted travel, getting rid of trash cans (seriously), implementing a printer quota, limiting email retention to 18 months (there are projects that last longer than this...). Ending birthday and anniversary gifts, shutting down cafeterias. They reduced the workspace of all but management to a small single desk and seem to be trying to cram employees into the smallest space possible. Each new phase of AmwayNEXT has been more awful than the last. Most recently, they decided to move IT operations and maintenance to China and had mass layoffs. They also closed the majority of the manufacturing that was done in Ada, most likely to manufacture it in China. All this while the company's sales had recovered, and the company spends generously on construction projects around Ada. Employees are no longer considered assets, or people to be respected and appreciated. They are trying to squeeze every last penny out of the employees.
