Pros

Very smart, knowledgeable Managing Director and Manager The Business Valuation team recruits at UCSB, which isn't often a target school You can sneak free food during accounting busy season if you're friends with the accounting team Work life balance is good as I usually could leave around 5pm

Cons

Pay wasn't great, and more so annual merit increase was very small ($1000) Very boring and anti-social coworkers in general Boring work as a whole Not much room for creativity, experimentation - there is a right way to do something and you have to learn what it is - it's not so much crafting a story or developing a strategy for your clients as making your modeling/report fit a pre-existing valuation (e.g., EY values a 5% stake in a company at $60k so you make your discounted cash flow and comparables come out around $60k).

Pros

good work life balance which is rare. No audit practice therefore tax dominate and controls direction of the firm.

Cons

Each office operates as its own Silo, incompetent staff, too much focus on admin and not on developing better skillsets.
