Cons
This company feels like it is always 10 years behind technology wise. Until 2020, laptops were still running on Windows 7. Technology culture is stagnant and vast majority of folks in an upper and middle management do not have a good idea how technology works, how it can be leveraged nor how to manage “technically abled” teams. I witnessed the first hand how a client data was irretrievably deleted from a local data store due to poor procedures which I have been highlighting for some time, or how little this company invests in innovative people. One of the critical internal systems needed a new database server since 2015. After 5 years of explaining why a server is needed, upper management was still not able to comprehend the issue and many processes got stuck in Excel and Access 2010 era with database files stored on a laptop and with manual overhead needed. After I got fed up with the middle management ignoring all the proper and safe guidelines on how not to manage and develop IT/technical processes, I decided to leave for something better. Two weeks, before I was supposed to hand in my laptop, I wrote a letter to the upper management, just to summarize how mismanaged client data and processes are and how I was blackmailed to cooperate by my boss. After few hours, all my devices were locked, and HR asked me to leave premises. There was not even an exit interview where I would be asked why am I leaving and to be able to explain myself. People causing issues stayed, and nobody talked to me, even when I tried to sincerely help. I strongly stated, I am not looking for a vengeance nor do I intend to do any malicious activity. Be careful with this company. It's good to start your carrier, but many people in the upper management have been there for years and it shows its rigidness. To warn all interns, one of my colleagues few years back did not see eye to eye with his boss, who is now a director at this company. Instead of normal conflict resolution, his boss made him count and recount chairs in the office as a punishment and made his life unnecessary bad, and every day came up with more and more petty punishment just to push that person out of the company. Only this example is enough to show, how immature some of the people in the upper management are. I guess, I should have left them too.
