Pros
Great people, brilliant team and my boss was great, he genuinely cared for his people. really good exposure to clients, broad product base allows for greater knowledge of industry products.
Cons
Staff are just a number, very poor pay and benefits vs wider industry. Huge disparity with colleague packages due to the number of takeovers, some colleagues will have really good pensions, pay and health plans due to originally being with firms that were bought out. Apex packages don’t include healthcare for family, my pension didn’t start for 1 year after joining. Also each title has 3 levels, so AVP has AVP1, AVP2 and AVP3 levels, and you are only promoted up 1 sub level at a time with 5% pay increases, this system is designed to keep people (and salaries) down. Also, very long working hours due to not hiring enough staff to support the business coming in. Apex buys so many companies it becomes white noise after a while and there is little integration of those businesses. The growth of the company is phenomenal but it is quite poorly executed. Also the CEO has a lecturing style, town halls are utterly uninspiring as a result. Lastly, the office in Dublin is a bit of a dump and needs a bit of love.
