Pros

Beautiful campus; sits on top of a mountain; unbelievable summers; real winter (with snow). Football is the predominant sport and adds lots of excitement to the town. This is a state university, part of the UNC system, so you get state retirement which is not too bad.

Cons

Campus work is predominately made up of locals and relatives. Some change is in the works but it's nepotism at its best. Pay can be on the low end. Opportunities are few. Housing is expensive and general cost of living is above the norm from my perspective. Lots of people live "off the mountain" for cheaper housing, greater choices in retail and lower expenses in general.

Pros

People are nice generally, but I find that to be true only the lower down the hierarchy you go.

Cons

Leadership, especially the closer you get to the upper administration, tends to be wildly out of touch, has little to no supervisory skill, and seems to lack basic human compassion.
