They'll offer a decent wage when you're first hired, but be prepared for raises that don't keep up with inflation/cost of living. Many employees have to live with a roommate just to be able to afford their rent/mortgage. Management has become so corrupt. It's all a buddy system. The loudest voices in the room who project confidence get praise and opportunity, even if they are utterly incompetent. The brown nosers get promoted. The people who actually do good work are typically stuck in their dead end job, getting a 3% raise every year at review time. It's become a regular thing to have more work added to your role without increasing the compensation. Any logical career path within your job is considered a lateral move, so you won't get paid more, unless you want to become a supervisor. Fraud Prevention Specialist Tier 1 pays exactly the same as a Tier 2 Specialist, but you have more work to deal with and get thrown into a call queue with angry customers. Fraud Admin requires you be in a Fraud Tier 2 role for at least a year, but guess what? Lateral move. You won't get paid more. Apple has "rotations" and "career experiences" that you can do to learn another role within the company for 6 months, then go back to your old job. It's another way they exploit people for low cost labor. You can be doing a higher-level role, but you will get paid the same as your usual job. If you come in as a contractor, good luck. You will be treated like a second class citizen. You're not allowed to attend "all hands" meetings because you're barred from knowing what the "badged" employees are told in those meetings, which is nothing any sane person cares about. They just throw a bunch of numbers on a Keynote and talk about how great the company is, but for some reason contractors aren't allowed to hear it. Your benefits will also likely be terrible with the temp agency. If Apple goes back to working in the office, they will probably start doing Beer Bashes again. Contractors aren't allowed to go. You'll also get to hear all the kool-aid drinking badged people complaining about how terrible the contractors are at their jobs. Sadly, if you really want to work at Apple, the easiest route is to come in as a contractor and try to get hired on. I could go on, but I suggest you check out appletoo.us and read the stories.
