Incredible shift flexibility, and hard work can lead to relatively rapid promotion from host to server. Tips are amazing Coworkers can be the brightest patch in the dark. Sometimes, everything clicks and it's smooth. Can have lots of unpaid time off, with the money to enjoy it depending on where you live. The glorious chaos of it all.
Cons
Basically, the opposite of everything I said can also be true. The company tries to use last year's data to staff and sometimes it works. But sometimes you are the only server on the floor tending to 16+ tables and going down in flames. Coworkers can also be stressful. Managers can be super helpful, or the bane of your existence. Some customers are... Challenging. The craziest stuff happens in food service. No fixed end time for shifts. Makes it impossible to properly plan after work activities.
