Pros
I was hired with no serving experience and left a year and a half later with bartender and training experience. I also believe that if you make it out of Applebee's as a good server then you can serve anywhere.
Cons
The people who come into Applebee's are college students and those of the lower middle class looking to gouge on fatty frozen food and down two for one drinks. Despite the cheap prices customers are still under the assumption that their drinks should have hefty pours. Expect to loose a lot of weight running around like a chicken so get table 20 extra ranch, 32 needs more buffalo, and don't forget to put three extra pumps of strawberry syrup in table 30's lemonade. It may not seem like a lot now, but rest assured each table will have an item they forgot to tell you to grab last trip. And if you can't manage to make it back to the table with the third ramekin bbq sauce before they stuff that last boneless wing between their fat lips your manager is bound to comp half of the meal. Which really isn't a big deal after all, because it's all of $10 that you were most likely not going to get tipped on anyways
