Pros
- Flexibility in schedule, if you needed off, you usually could always get off of work or switch with someone else - Co-workers & building Friendships - Lots of contests/perks (only if you do EXTREMELY well) - average pay for servers/waiters
Cons
- not too many opportunities for advancement - treatment of employees was so so, some days it was great, others, not so much, depends on the manager - hours could be terrible, working 4pm to 2am (plus another hour for cleanup) - poor compensation at times, when you wait on a table for 2 hours and they 'stiff' you, yet the sales were $200 and applebees still expects you to pay $6 (3% tip share) out of your own pocket - most of the managers showed extreme favoritism or were two-faced - managers did NOT have your back...whatever the table/customer said was right, usually no matter what the situation - expectations at times were strict, i.e. if you didn't sell 20 margaritas throughout your shift, the manager would scold you or call you out, most of the time in front of the whole staff - district manager was ridiculous when he visited the restaurant, always quizzing you and watching your every move...if you didn't do perfect and upsell EVERYTHING, you were in big trouble
