Pros
I truly learned A LOT about ABA and working with individuals with disabilities in my position as a line therapist. Overall, the ABC center had a great training program which allowed the therapist to move up "levels" in his or her training, which, for me, was very reinforcing and overall rewarding. I had a wonderful, experienced BCBA who was knowledgeable in the field and a great role model.
Cons
Unfortunately, there is a ceiling with the training. I believe the highest was a level 5 therapist, and this really limited growth from there. Not many opportunities to move "up" from there. Also, the environment was sometimes very negative and aversive because the company would randomly cut someone's hours if a child didn't show for the day. There was ambiguity in how to implement the child's programs and/or behavior plan because, unfortunately, the BCBAs were trapped in their offices working on insurance issues.
