Pros

Lets you get years of experience, other companies may require.

Cons

The company is horrible, they treat it like a CULT and feed everyone misinformation about the rest of the industry while claiming to be the most virtuous company in the world. They claim not to do anything the other companies do, like buying lunches to get surgeons to use their products, instead they buy them a plane ticket to California a night or two in a hotel and all the food to go along with it. They flat out copy other companies designs for medical devices, because all this money they invest in R&D is not to research clinical needs and ways to meet them and create devices to improve patients and procedures, rather to research how to manufacture it only. They don't spend the money needed on the devices, rather copy and push it out as soon as possible with as little testing as possible. The research that is done at this company could be completed better by a 9th grade student, as they understand what the scientific method is. This is something Applied has forgotten completely! If you want to loose all your passion for helping people, improving healthcare, improving the world we live in, then maybe this is a place for you. But if you want to really make a difference, apply somewhere else! save yourself

Pros

Lots of opportunities for growth and exposure to all varieties of the medical device lifecycle. Vertical integration is truly special for this and you will become a better engineer at this company. Overall positive culture, I have a friendly relationship with my management and I've enjoyed working with virtually all my peers.

Cons

Pay is lower than market average and you will need to put in more than what you'll get. There is also ambiguity on the metrics management assesses team member growth for promotions or pay increases. Work/life balance can get rough particularly in R&D depending on the project.
