Pros

No Pros... I have been employed at Applied for a little over year and can't find anything positive to share about my experience.

Cons

DO NOT BELIEVE ALL THE FAKE POSITIVE POSTS IN 2020. Those posts are only internal company folks, that are trying to boost the company's scores. In March 2020, a memo went out to all employees stating that we were all taking a 12-18% salary cut and that Senior Management would be taking a 50% salary cut. In addition, 401k matching was being suspended. First of all, I seriously doubt that Senior Management took a 50% salary reduction. I know that I took a 15%-18% salary reduction. It's now almost 4 months later and there is no date or answer as to when we will get back to normal salary levels. I have asked everyone in the company minus the President when we can expect to get our salaries back. No answers and lack of transparency. Everything is hush-hush around here. We all have families and budgets. We have expenses and need to plan for the rest of the year. I might need to get a second job to account for this salary cut. I just want an answer if we will be normalized soon or if I will need to plan an alternative for my family. This is very upsetting because they are still hiring new non-essential senior roles with our salary cut money. Just last week, there were multiple new employee announcements. This is dishonest and very unethical! How can you TRUST any employer that snatches your hard earned money and leverages it, to hire new employees. Clearly, Applied Medical is a very unethical and not the family oriented company that it tries to portray. Other things that I have seen or experienced, most employees are very very green and in most cases, these employees only have consulting experience and/or have no real corporate experience. This is their first job out of college. Not to be disrespectful, but most employees in IT are Indians and are hired on worker's visa. This is a bit shocking considering that there is plenty of talent on the street and Applied Medical wouldn't have to spend ~$6-7K for each worker's visa renewal every year. This is not the right way to promote a company's culture or growth. The company doesn't want to improve or change for the better. It's just more of the same. We constantly try to create everything from systems, processes, to devices but always fail because management doesn't listen to their experienced employees. Take my advise DO NOT CONSIDER APPLIED MEDICAL as a potential employer. It's been a terrible experience for me and my family. There is no career path and Senior Management has no clue since many of them have no other experience other than at Applied Medical experience. Very sad. Newly graduated people, get your experience somewhere else and don't fall in this sand trap. Experienced and seasoned people, don't think that you're any different than me. This place will run you to the ground, physically and emotionally. You will work hard and never smart at Applied Medical. The systems and processes will never catchup.

Pros

Lots of opportunities for growth and exposure to all varieties of the medical device lifecycle. Vertical integration is truly special for this and you will become a better engineer at this company. Overall positive culture, I have a friendly relationship with my management and I've enjoyed working with virtually all my peers.

Cons

Pay is lower than market average and you will need to put in more than what you'll get. There is also ambiguity on the metrics management assesses team member growth for promotions or pay increases. Work/life balance can get rough particularly in R&D depending on the project.
