Pros

The company likes to hire people when they are young and ready to mold, so this is great for interns. There is also definitely opportunity for career growth. The CEO is a nice guy and he’s very approachable.

Cons

The company sells your time for $160/hour and you get to keep $20 of it The office was very cliquey — never a good thing when the HR person is best friends with the CEO and all of upper management. It was like high school. When I worked there, the company staffed around 100 people. I believe 1 of those people was a POC.

Hi, and thanks for posting with candor. I’m glad you enjoyed the work but sorry you felt that way about our culture - that’s certainly not our intent. We do have natural groupings around our larger projects as teams build and get closer to each other than to the rest of the company. It’s even harder to mix now, with so many people working remotely. And the fact that I’m friendly with my executive team should not stop anyone from consulting our HR team. If you’d like to contact me directly I’d be very happy to explain our economics better. We never get $160/hr by the way: our standard rate is $135 and we almost always need to discount that to compete with offshore devs. I would also like to learn from you how I could do a better job of maintaining a positive culture, especially now during COVID. Thanks for posting. ..Frank

Pros

I started my career at Applied Visions fresh out of school and spent nearly two decades growing with the company. I had the opportunity to work on MANY interesting and exciting projects and learned a tremendous amount about the business and art of building software. The CEO, Frank, was always supportive and genuinely listened to my career goals, making it a place where I could chart my own course. The company strikes a great balance between being small enough to allow for diverse experiences across different parts of the business, yet large enough to work with major clients on impactful projects. It’s a great place for someone looking to build a long-term career and develop a wide range of skills.

Cons

Workload can ebb and flow depending on project cycles.
