Pros
I worked on the Sales Team over at Apto for the past 10 months. During my time there, I had the opportunity to meet and work with some of the smartest and most dedicated people I have ever met - and this was not just in the sales department! Pretty much everyone employed at Apto wants to be there and put their heart and soul into making the company better every day. Apto offers a typical startup environment, which includes a dog friendly office, bean bag chairs, free snacks, unlimited time off, powder days, etc. They really do their best to make their employees want to spend time at the office, and enjoy themselves while working. The product itself is incredible, and a great system for Commercial Real Estate brokerage industry. As a member of the sales team, I could honestly tell prospects that our product would help them stay organized and make more money. The current product is great, and is only going to get better as leadership continues to put massive investments into making the product even better, which gives me high hopes for the future of the business. The CEO of the company and HR team recognize and stands by Apto’s core belief about hiring and retaining great people. The CEO still does the final interview for any new employee, no matter how junior their role, and interacts with employees across every department. I cannot say enough good things about their CEO. The final thing I would like to say about Apto is that the Leadership team knows when it is time to change gears. When too many people are visibly negative in a department, or end up quitting/leaving, leadership is fast to put their heads together, pin point the issue, and make a change. There are some great people at Apto, and I do miss being a part of their organization often.
Cons
Apto is a rapidly growing startup company. With this comes significant growing pains through every department. I saw several of my colleagues become frustrated with these growing pains, and leave the company, but I tried to keep in mind that rapid growth is necessary to succeed. If you decide to take a job with Apto, be patient, be vocal, but more importantly, don’t be afraid to speak out. People will listen.
