Pros

Great benefits, small size, management truly cares about the staff. Management is accepting of all the different personalities and caters to varied work styles as much as possible. This is a family company, and everyone is treated like family. Our software is top notch, and one of the best in the industry!

Cons

Typical issues with any small company. Everyone knows everything about everyone. Time off can be hard to schedule if there aren't enough people to cover the job duties in your absence (although this is better than it used to be)

Pros

I have been working at Aptora as a Software Engineer for over 3 years and I cannot recommend this company highly enough. It is a perfect blend of autonomy, collaboration, and work/life balance that has greatly contributed to my professional growth and personal satisfaction. One of the main pros of working at Aptora is the level of autonomy granted to employees. Management trusts us with our work and provides us the freedom to tackle projects using our creativity and judgement. This kind of environment encourages self-growth, exploration, and innovation that is truly refreshing. The company is also highly collaborative. Teams work together seamlessly, and communication is open and encouraged across all levels. There's a great sense of camaraderie, making it easy to bounce ideas off one another and find support when needed. Work/life balance is another highlight of working at Aptora. Management understands the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and is flexible with schedules, enabling employees to take care of personal needs while still being productive in their professional lives. Aptora has an open-minded attitude towards innovation, which allows for trying out new ideas and pushing boundaries while maintaining a solid foundation. This makes it an ideal workplace for creative individuals or those who enjoy the challenge of enhancing existing systems. The company does an exceptional job of placing people in positions that suit their strengths and provides opportunities for growth and development. Employees are given chances to prove themselves and make meaningful contributions to the company. In summary, Aptora is a fantastic place to work for anyone seeking a supportive, innovative, and forward-thinking environment. The combination of autonomy, collaboration, and work/life balance fosters personal and professional growth, making it a fulfilling experience for employees at all levels.

WOW, your review is fantastic and humbling all in one. It is employees like you that make us want to keep improving and growing. I love the fact that you recognize the importance of being innovative and forward thinking. These two things can skyrocket our success or break us down and with employees like you it will be the first mentioned!

Pros

If you get lucky and you like your coworkers, the day to day is bearable. You will be busy enough that you won’t be bored.

Cons

-No real HR department to go to with concerns. The HR director is married to the owner, and I did not feel that there was a way to express concerns about the company, in part due to that conflict of interest. -Unrealistic expectations. The owner expects you to be as invested in the company as he is, meaning you should WANT to spend your free time on weekends and after hours doing extra stuff for work. -The software you are selling is not functional. Be prepared for angry customers, and know that you probably will not be able to help them. Updates frequently down the entire system, and marketing efforts pushing a new feature regularly begin before that feature is even functional. -If you’re a good employee, you’ll be expected to pick up the slack for less productive employees-to a level beyond what I would consider acceptable. The hiring and firing here makes no sense; the people who contribute the least have managed to hold on to their jobs for way too long, while others have gotten fired with no warning for petty and trivial reasons. -The raise/bonus system is not really a system at all. Not much of a schedule for when a performance review may happen other than just when they get around to it, and a further delay after the review in getting them to discuss a pay raise at all.

Thanks for the feedback. My response is this: 1. If you are concerned about HR being married to the owner, there is a General Manager that has no relationship to the owners. The GM is fully qualified to handle all HR issues. 2. Most employees are salaried workers that agree to and sign a job offer that states that you are required to work 45 hours a week; 40 in the office and five outside the office. Yes, you will be required to work in the evening and/or weekends to get your 45 hours. We are very up front with this. 3. The hiring and firing is simple; we hire the best applicants for the position and if those applicants can't effectively do their job, they are fired. We are often criticized for keeping employees on too long because we want to give them a fair chance. 4. The software is only non-functional if you do not know how to use it. We have training videos, one-on-one training, manuals, and a support department that is willing to help you learn. My advice is to ask for help if you can't figure out how to use the software that is paying your salary. 5. The review and raise are two separate processes so that each can be fully covered. If you are motivated by money only and not on your job performance, then the two weeks between each can be extremely frustrating. Based on all of your complaints, I believe it is a good thing that you either quit a job that you didn't value or you were fired from a job you couldn't effectively do.
