Good culture and work, but pay and benefits are lagging - Engineer Arity Employee Review

Pros

Work with lots of smart people who genuinely don’t mind sharing what they know. It is a good culture that places a lot of value on learning and there are lots of opportunities to challenge yourself and grow your skills. Easy to move around the company. Fully remote, permanently. They even sold all their office space!

Cons

The salary and benefits aren’t competitive, especially for employees living in expensive cities. 401k contribution is low compared to other companies (even when you factor in the small pension plan), the insurance plans are too expensive for the quality of coverage, and the salaries need to go up. There is a lot of churn among the folks who’ve been around a while, as they leave looking for more money. It would be better to pay them and retain them.

Pros

Remote work flexibility was the primary benefit

Cons

Leadership promotes a people-first culture, but many employees experienced a disconnect between the messaging and reality. Employees were repeatedly reassured that there would be no layoffs, only to later be told that the layoffs had been planned for six months. That damaged trust across the organization. The culture has deteriorated significantly, and many employees feel that leadership is more focused on appearances than genuinely listening to and supporting employees.
