Poor place to work - Associate Professor Arizona State University Employee Review

Pros

Nice weather, tuition benefit is good (if the classes are high quality, which is questionable).

Cons

The current explosive growth is NOT smart growth. This place functions as a greedy corporation. Very poor compensation, very little opportunity to grow, no cost of living increases, merit increases are very low and rarely occur. This place feels like a temp agency, working at Walmart or McDonald's. They don't care about quality control. It is easy for ASU to hire its own graduates with very little experience so there is always a warm body willing to fill a position.

Pros

Great atmosphere and truly excellent benefits. Every day is a little different.

Cons

Need to wear a lot of different hats and understand both the academic and business sides, which can be challenging. Having to pay for parking.

Pros

Very flexible working schedule and super friendly supervisors. It is a great place to work overall.

Cons

Continuous monitoring of your work and your time on calls can feel intimidating, but overall, the staff is very supportive.
