No Work-Life Balance, Internal Politics - Anonymous employee Ascend Learning Employee Review

Pros

Hard working team, some good colleagues, technically several new skills that I could get exposure to

Cons

Too many late-night deployments, even on weekends, no work-life balance, incidents that take up most of the working day. In addition, the recent lay-offs resulted in loss of dedicated folks. Internal politics from people who have been there for some time and so get to throw their weight around. Some of the managers that I currently work with are very unprofessional, lack basic courtesy, use profanity, and are ignorant of professional space. Micro-management from senior management.

Pros

Decent benefits Hybrid WFH schedule Some really great direct managers

Cons

Chaotic and disorganized, with old outdated backend systems. Work performance and output not generally recognized: people who do very little work are often paid the same, or more than people who do double or triple the workload, and are allowed to continue with the company while other shoulder the load. Once you are on a team or part of a BU - good luck making a move to another team or BU. The place is a revolving door for a lot of positions, but once you learn a skillset they are unlikely to allow a move. The sales team runs this place, so be prepared to be bullied constantly by them, even when you are told to gatekeep.
