Pros
(1) Great remote support! (A) The company has done a good job at getting applicable remote technology to all their associates and supporting it remotely via their excellent IT team. Whether there are hardware issues, software issues, or even security issues, the IT team is on it! (B) Additionally, from a communication perspective, everything has been great. Executive management does a monthly "town-hall" meeting (via Zoom) and my direct manager is always giving me updates as they come. HR has also not slowed down with communications delivering updates as needed. (2) Taking pandemic seriously! (A) I interviewed during the onset of the pandemic and on-boarded and started remotely. I can't say it was totally smooth but everyone in the world was scrambling to get it down pat. When I interviewed, they were very respectful of social distancing. Any notion of pre-pandemic conventions like hand-shaking are non-existent. For any interviews that happen now, it's totally acceptable to wear a mask etc. (or just do it via Zoom). (B) I haven't been to the offices but I heard they did actual construction on the break-room (and other places) to help with "traffic flow" and they put down arrows everywhere to help guide associates when the time is right to get back to work. (C) Speaking about going back to work. They are only going to do it if they feel it's safe. There is no date set yet. (3) Good culture! While it's hard to tell in a remote environment, from what I've seen above tells me that these are serious people who want what is best for their customers and associates. Additionally, the executive management team are all on the same page and have many years of experience together. (4) Solid company foundations! In a covid-19 world, it's important to have stability financially. Based on what I heard and have seen, the company is on solid ground. In one publication, it shows that revenue has increased over 20% YOY from 2018 to 2019. Of course, 2020 will be different but that kind of growth doesn't happen overnight.
Cons
Some technology systems are old and need upgrading. This might seem a bit of a "first world problem" issue, but this is a big deal for me. Starting off easy, their outward presence on social media is quite dated and not really used at all. Additionally, their careers' site looks like it came out of the early 2000's. It did not appear that they even had an ATS system but I could be wrong. Accessing files is also a bit old using an old SharePoint interface. I obviously do not know every area of the business - only what I've encountered - but I get a sense that a lot is older and might need some upgrading. That said, they give out great laptops and they just upgraded their phone systems. I also heard that a lot of the employment-related stuff is slated for an overhaul so that should be interesting to see.
