Pros

Remote employee, work from home.

Cons

Out of sight, out of mind. Some of the worst management I have seen in 30 plus years in the workforce. I don't know whether the issues are related to being a remote employee, I rather think that it is more due to poor management and poor communication skills on the part of supervisors. Specifically, when an employee is a remote and they depend upon telephone and email communication with the home office (Scottsdale) it is simply not acceptable for management to decide they will not respond to emails and they will not return phone calls even after they have directly instructed you to call them. I have had multiple supervisors in my two years with Assurant and they all seem to be equally poor in not answering emails and not returning phone calls. Furthermore, when one is in the middle of a Skype conversation with an employee, it is not acceptable to simply ghost on them and never come back to the conversation. This is not the third grade people! Communication is poor, dissemination of instruction and information with regards to underwriting processing is equally poor as well. There seems to be very much a factory mentality and the drive is always for more production. Assurant should be ashamed of the way supervisors are allowed to run roughshod over employees while providing poor instruction and no leadership.
