Pros

It's a big employer, so there are plenty of opportunities to switch roles. It's been gradually changing its culture to compete in a more diverse and socially minded world. Post covid, they've not needlessly chased everyone back to the office. They've been bringing in initiatives to support employee well-being.

Cons

Alot of their talk about having a great culture remains just talk at this point- very few women, people of colour, people with disabilities in senior positions and zero transparency on pay. Full time hours remain at 40 hrs per week. People-management skills remain patchy, with key positions still taken up by "work em hard, burn em out" types; still cliquey with a silo mentality.

Thank you for your feedback and for being part of the Assurant team for many, many years! In 2021, we introduced diverse slates for our interviewing practices and facilitated required DEI training for all managers and individual contributors, focused on managing with inclusion and introducing unconscious bias. And we have shared all of your comments with our internal teams to continue our employee experience initiatives.

Pros

Remote work across all lines of business allows for a flexible work environment

Cons

There is almost no opportunity for growth. The company laid off quite a few employees recently as part of a planned reduction in force while also reporting its highest quarterly earnings. There's no loyalty to tenured employees.
