Pros

Asurion used to be a great place to work. The culture stood out among the companies I’ve worked for in the past and I really thought I found the company for me. The job used to be fun, sometimes challenging, and the changes used to make things easier for the customer and better for us. They used to promote from within and there used to be a real opportunity for growth.

Cons

Their core values are never actually enforced. You would think your role as a technical support representative that your job would be providing technical support, but it’s not. They don’t care if you actually help the customers as long as you’re landing sales. If the customer says they don’t want it they REQUIRE you to provide rebuttals and basically beg them for a sale. They show no respect for the customers in doing this. We basically turned into slimy car salesmen. At the end of the day, the tech support doesn’t matter anymore. Just your sales. Lucky for me I was able to get sales the honest way so I was able to avoid the constant, repetitive conversation about sales and the importance to the company, but watching what was happening to my coworkers put a sour taste in my mouth. If you don’t meet their minimum sales you will be put on corrective action and fired. Interesting coming from a TECH SUPPORT position. I could understand being required to offer the product. I have no issue there. But requiring experts to get sales and beg customers for sales is inexcusable. If Verizon were smart they wouldn’t allow these practices to be performed as customers don’t like to be hounded and pushed to buy something. If the product sells itself, then let it sell itself. Moving on to room for growth. The company hardly ever promoted from within in the last year I was there. And if you are LUCKY enough to be blessed with a promotion, it’s short lived. They promote you to an “acting” position and put you on a trial run for several months. Ironically if you are hired externally (as most are now and days) they are offered a higher salary and are guaranteed their position and don’t have to be an “acting” supervisor. So if you’re looking to be a supervisor... wait it out and wait for the position to open up because it will be YEARS before they will even consider you. I ended up leaving the company due to covid19. They refused to close the doors in the Las Vegas area and even after a confirmed case came through they never informed us. I had to find out from someone else. They only alerted people who sat next to him, forgetting that hundreds use the same elevator, doors and break rooms. I refuse to work for a company that puts their profits over the health and safety of their employees. I find this behavior deplorable.

Pros

The job does pay well and does give you commission and mileage back. It’s 22.05 an hour and .77 cents per mile ( you will drive a lot and your mileage check will probably be the same as your weekly check )

Cons

The job is hyper focused on pushing people to sell VHDP or HTP (VHDP Verizon Home Device Protection ), ( Home Tech Protection ). The job doesn’t really care for the financial situation of a client and will say “ well you could have told them even though they are on a fixed income, they can still get the plan and talk to their ISP about financial hardship “ the staffing is sometimes very scarce and is also very lack of consideration for driving far off with no help if you get stuck. If you happen to have a vehicle issue ( which you will ) you have 7 days to get it back up in running before you get either written up or let go. I did enjoy working for this company, but it was mentally taxing and always was about getting every dollar out the customer even though they already paid for the visit for you to come out, and the phone replacement which they have to pay for monthly. Once you have worked for the company for atleast 90 days you will get a tablet and they will make you start doing Verizon consultation about the customers WiFi and try to sell them these 90 dollar WiFi just so they can make the most money possible. It’s all just give me money even though you already gave me money
