Pros
This is a cool field to work in especially if you like aviation. The company is cool but really depends on the base you are at. Some are run very well and some are run very poorly. It is really luck of the draw. You get to meet a lot of famous people too if that's your thing. On the bigger bases, there is always overtime available. This job pays decently well and you can make a living off of it. 401K is a 3% match with the next 2% matched halfway. They have OK health insurance and time off is not that great. But if you need more time off, the management can just let you take whatever time you need to yourself and take a "no pay" day. A lot of bases have "blackout" months where employees are not allowed to take off days. This is common in heavy tourism places.
Cons
Takes a very long time to move up to a manager role. A lot of bases have management positions open, but they do not fill the position for whatever reason. Upper management can be overbearing sometimes and the bigger the base, the more drama there is. Sometimes people take the job too seriously. Managers like to push problems under the rug and not deal with them rather than addressing them. This leads to bad relationships between workers and managers. I have never seen or met the CEO Lou Pepper. He never sends videos to the employees and I really don't get any correspondence from him about the status of the company. I have met a lot of corporate management, but that is because I have traveled to many bases and bigger events where these people show up. The company has a great model but they really need to up their customer service standards. A lot of the service that te company provides is sub-par and could be improved with better training and accountability from the management.
