A great company, poorly managed - Line Technician Supervisor Atlantic Aviation Employee Review

Pros

Atlantic Aviation has great benefits, okay pay (compared to other FBO’s), and flexible scheduling. The training isn’t tough, but the timeframe for training and non-urgency from upper management causes the training to drag over years instead of weeks/months. As a line tech, you will get tipped which is nice, but just know that you will deal with more many passengers who look down on the line techs simply because they have a surplus of money.

Cons

Signing up for benefits is a pain. Management’s approach is a laissez faire attitude, many days you won’t even see anyone above supervisor level. Front desk, at least at the FBO I worked at, is little to no help. They will inform you that a customer is headed to an aircraft…after they’ve already gotten in the plane, they typically will not assist with any minor stuff like making coffee or bagging ice, and a large percentage seemed nervous to talk on radios so they would come through way too soft to even hear. On busy days you will walk/run a good 10-20 miles so be prepared for that, especially in hotter states if you’re not accustomed to that. We had several cases of heatstroke/dehydration so make sure you bring a camelback or something similar because on busy days there may not be any water breaks.

Thank you for sharing your experience and leaving a review. We are grateful for the impact you had on the safety and success of every flight! It is encouraging to hear you appreciated our benefits and pay. We understand that a career in private aviation can be physically demanding at times. Some of our roles require working in the elements in all kinds of weather, however we want to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of every team member including water breaks on hot days, so we are saddened and concerned to hear that was not your experience. We encourage any team member with similar concerns to share that feedback with your direct supervisor so your voice can be heard and we can encourage better staffing coverage for breaks on those hot days. We appreciate you taking the time to share and wish you success in your next position.

Pros

Health insurance benefits are solid and the company has an established corporate structure. Pay is consistent, but those are the only notable positives.

Cons

Local management is ineffective, unprofessional, and visibly disengaged. Direct leadership lacked initiative, accountability, and basic communication skills, often appearing indifferent unless corporate oversight was involved. Expectations were unclear and inconsistently enforced, creating a disorganized and frustrating work environment. There was a noticeable reliance on surveillance rather than leadership. After receiving a final warning, camera monitoring became excessive and felt targeted, as if management was more focused on finding reasons to terminate employees than actually supporting improvement. The overall culture is unsupportive and transactional. Employees are treated as expendable rather than valued, which contributes to low morale, lack of trust, and high turnover. Stronger leadership at the local level is clearly lacking.
