Potential long stretches' of days off if your seniority can bid it. Free (sub-par) food. That's it, but GlassDoor wants me to type 20 words.
Cons
These don't happen every day, but definitely do happen: Extremely long duty days (over 23hours). Very slow/late/inefficient company, especially on multi-leg days. Witnessing Atlas lie about delay codes to it's customers. The pilot group has been sued for the most absurd things, just to keep employee costs down, and suppress work/pay improvements. Listen to the company swear that they want to get us a contract. It expired in 2016. Said contract fails to meet basic needs given industry-wide (cancellation pay, 100% deadhead pay, trip protection, paid R1 reserve, etc). Low guarantee Low pay Poor furlough protections Can (and have) been obligated to be out on the road for over 30 days in a row. The culture is toxic and beyond repair. Morale is pessimistic and in the dumps. Poor training; disorganized and instructors frequently contradict one-another. You fly into places with horrible air quality, with no recourse (India, China, etc). Carriage of hazardous cargo: Li batteries, explosives, flammables, radioactive, ect. Rest rules are under the 'Cargo Carve-Out' not the more generous passenger rules. Fatigue. Oh the fatigue. Constant time zone shift / circadian swaps. Flying skill erodes terribly, especially when 4 people are trying to be the pilot to get the 1 landing on a 13h flight. You almost go un-current. You sit so much, you will likely get stagnant hypoxia, or at the very least, become overweight. Corporate card is issued, and the paperwork obligations that come with it. Cargo is isolated in the shabbiest corners of the airports. Several have asked me for internal recommendations, here's what I tell them: Go to another D-scale airline, and make sure you apply to the A/B/C-scale carriers. If you still end up here, be sure to have a clearly defined exit plan, the worst thing you could want for your future, is to wallow in this cesspool for as many years as I have.
