Pros

- Atlas's mission is commendable: decrease the cost of outpatient surgeries and increase positive outcomes by taking cases out of large hospitals. - Atlas was founded as a joint venture with Banner, which indicates fiscal stability. - The IT team is comprised of some of the most intelligent and helpful folks I have ever worked with. - Hybrid work schedule for IT Operations Specialists allows a great amount of flexibility as long as surgery centers are adequately supported. - The CEO, Aric, makes a point to greet everyone in the office. He thanked me for my work multiple times and even mailed a gift card to my home, which made me feel noticed and appreciated.

Cons

For an organization that supposedly values culture above everything else, some of the managers at Atlas can be incredibly toxic. The CISO/IT VP plays favorites, exhibits passive-aggressive behavior toward people in the department that he doesn't like, and makes emotionally charged, snap judgments. I provided 2 weeks notice and was let go 2 days before my scheduled last day because of a conversation that was misrepresented. I was not asked to explain or provide my side of the story. Prior to this, I did not have any disciplinary action and was generally in good standing with the company. The CPO (Chief People Officer) didn't know that this had happened and was surprised when I informed her during my exit interview, which indicates that the CISO/IT VP made this decision hastily without consulting HR beforehand. What makes the above situation even more ironic is that he prides himself on having a "politically incorrect" team that "speaks their minds". What this actually means is that team members are encouraged to openly make inappropriate jokes, including anti-LGBTQ+ remarks (despite the fact that a couple members of the team are LGBTQ+) and discuss other topics that do not belong in the workplace. I refrained from speaking up about these incidents because I was concerned about retaliation and did not want to rock the boat. Outside of IT, the company as a whole has massive issues with communication. The COO/cofounder left a few months ago and a large portion of employees still don't know because it was never announced, encouraging rumors and gossip. Many employees, including IT staff, are quietly expected to perform duties outside of their scope because of poor planning and/or lack of accountability from other departments. There is no company-wide standard for training/orientation which has lead to each department developing their own unique process for onboarding new employees. All of this results in an incredibly dysfunctional organization that causes employees unnecessary stress and confusion regarding what they are expected to do and how they are supposed to do it. Ultimately, Atlas grew too much, too quickly and did not focus on establishing the foundation that is essential for the company to be successful. They are continuing to operate like a small company that can fly by the seat of their pants, which has lead to several directors and site CEOs leaving over the course of my 5 month tenure with the company and ultimately contributed to my departure as well.

The Surgery Center market is expanding rapidly and Atlas is well placed to lead that expansion. You will be challenged, work hard, learn, and grow with the company. Great exposure to all part of the company and with leadership. The employees at Atlas are great to work with and there is a lot of collaboration with all parts of the business. The medical benefits are fantastic!

Cons

There are a lot of deadlines and deliverables. But, hey that's accounting and they've been everywhere I've worked.
