Pros

The corporate sales environment is WONDERFUL. Coming from a Sunrise property where I was use to regional weekly flogging calls, this company is a breath of fresh air! Don't get me wrong...the pressure is on! But if you're in sales, you already came in knowing that and you know that aside from the warm and fuzzy "loving our residents" part, well, profit and growth are why we're hired. That being said, you won't find a better and more supportive corporate sales environment. The CEO is visibe, active and supportive. The VP of Sales, Rick Wiggington....just rocks. My regional support guy is amazing. If I flop, it's either extremely bad luck or my fault but the support is there. Incentives are ALWAYS being tossed at you to perform a bit higher....so if you love making money and a little challenge, you will here. On a local perspective, I'm pretty lucky to have an amazing team on the community front. People come in here, feel like we're a big happy loving family...and they chose us amongst 30 others in the area.

Cons

Not many. Like other senior living organizations, everyone tends to create too many processes in an effort to save a buck or micromange certain processes to the point where you're doing redundant reporting...etc. Streamlining and getting back to basics without five million reporting layers would be nice. I can't speak for every community, but at mine, the director team works an insane amount of hours. I have to believe they either chose to do this because they'd rather be here than home or that they're just not efficient to some degree but nonetheless very dedicated. There's a very new push on touching employees through all-employee daily meetings...not a bad thing at all....but there does tend to be a lot of "stand-ups, team meetings, trainings"....always makes me nervous when I spend too much time talking about working instead of working. These are all minor things though. If you can find a perfect place to work...good luck!

Pros

Wonderful relationships with the residents and coworkers.

Cons

My experience with Atria Senior Living was deeply disappointing. While the residents were wonderful and made coming to work worthwhile, corporate leadership consistently overshadowed what should have been a resident-focused environment. There was a significant disconnect between corporate executives and the day-to-day realities of the communities they oversee. Decisions often appeared driven by financial metrics rather than resident satisfaction or employee well-being. Employees were expected to absorb the consequences of those decisions while being given little support and even less respect. The culture from upper management was one of criticism rather than collaboration. Employees were frequently spoken to in a manner that felt demeaning and unprofessional. Constructive coaching was rare; public criticism and intimidation seemed far more common. Morale suffered because many employees felt undervalued, unheard, and disposable. Perhaps most troubling was the growing frustration expressed by residents and their families. Frontline staff worked hard to provide excellent service, but many resident concerns were beyond our control and stemmed from corporate-level decisions. It was heartbreaking to watch residents feel ignored while the people caring for them were left without meaningful solutions. The residents deserved better. The employees deserved better. A company that serves seniors should lead with compassion, dignity, and respect—not only toward residents, but toward the people entrusted with their care. I am grateful for the relationships I built with residents and coworkers, but I would not recommend employment here to anyone seeking a supportive workplace culture or leadership team that genuinely values its employees.
